____________________ It was just another summer night in Bakersfield. Well sort of. There were parties going on everywhere, but Brooklyn had decided not to go to any of them mostly because the main one that people were going to was being held by an ex-friend of hers and the others were her brother's friends. Needless to say, she stayed at home to avoid any unpleasing events right before school started back up. All she needed was to get into a cat fight with some of the seniors that would no doubt be running the school the very second they stepped back into it.
Sitting in her room Brooke was tapping away on her laptop, instant messaging one of her cousins that lived in LA. She glanced at her Sidekick every now and then to see if anybody had text her, but nothing was happening so far. Everybody that she knew was out having a good time while she stayed cooped up by herself in her house. Even her parents were out doing who knows what. Pathetic. What had happened to the social butterfly that she normally was?
At the sound of the doorbell ringing, Brooke slowly stopped typing. She shouted, "Be there in a sec!
" even though there was no way the person would be able to hear her from outside. She bid farewell to her cousin and pushed her laptop shut, leaving it on her bed. Running down the stairs she nearly slid across the marble flooring in the entrance way. Opening the door, she flipped on the porch light and peered outside. Her face lit up with a slight smirk when she saw the figure that was standing under the beam of light. "Come in," she said, moving out of the way. Brooke flipped the light off and shut the door behind them. "What brings you here?" she questioned curiously. [/blockquote] closed for Wes.

Wesley looked at Brooke, and he smiled a little. "Summer and I had a fight... She took something too seriously and ran away from it, like she always does," he said.

____________________ Brooklyn stared and Wesley before he even spoke. She had a pretty good idea what he was doing at her house tonight. She was almost willing to bet something such as her life that the subject matter envolved Summer. Brooke used to be friends with Summer before they had a falling out of sorts. In fact she wasn't even sure what had really happened because it had all been some big stupid fight that resulted in the girls not having spoken to each other since. Brooke had wanted to resurrect their friendship, but now she knew she would never be able to.
To understand the situation, there were a few things that one needed to know. Brooke and Summer not being friends anymore was one, and the fact that Wesley was dating Summer was another. The last piece to the puzzle was that Wesley was more than likely not here just to chat with Brooke, they had been fooling around behind Summer's back for a little over a month. Why? Brooke wasn't sure. Usually she wasn't the person that would do something like that, even out of spite for somebody else. Everything just happened one day and Brooke had never put her foot down to stop any of it, so it had continued going. If Summer found out she knew that she would be the most hated girl in school.
"Of course she did,"
Brooklyn answered, giving Wes a weak smile. Not only was it typical for Summer to do something like that, but it also happened to be the only time that Wesley showed up to hang out with Brooklyn, or whatever you choose to call what they did. "Need to talk about anything?" she asked sympathetically and patted his shoulder gently, leading the way from the entrance of the house to the kitchen, because it was the closest. She pulled out a bar stool for Wesley, gesturing for him to sit down. [/blockquote]

"Not really. I just don't wanna be anywhere around her. I should break it off with her... I just don't know how. If I do, I'll never hear the end of it from her, or from Chessy," Wesley said, sitting on the stool.

____________________ Prancing around the kitchen, Brooklyn opened a cabinet and grabbed a glass out of it before pushing it shut again. Turning around she walked over to the refrigerator and got some ice. Turning once more she went to the sink and flicked the faucet on to get herself some water. "Want anything to drink?"
she asked him, being a polite hostess. So far everything was going well. Wesley wasn't making any moves on her yet and there were no clothes on the ground. Yet. Perhaps it was because he didn't know that she was home alone, but he would probably realize that soon enough. Taking her water glass, Brooke shut the faucet off and sat on the bar stool beside Wesley. "You have the right to do what's best for you though," she pointed out. Of course if he broke up with Summer, her and Chessy would be all over him. What Brooke couldn't understand was why if it was what he wanted they would choose to force him out of it and into something that he didn't want. Shaking her head lightly, she sighed. "Don't think I'm saying that because of this," she added and motioned towards herself and him. [/blockquote]

Wesley shook his head when Brooke asked if he wanted anything to drink. "No, thanks; I'm good," he said. When Brooke said that he had to do what's best for him, he nodded. "I know, but still. I mean, she's always gonna be in my life. Before we got into the fight, we were even talking about having a baby..." he said.

____________________ Brooke smiled. She shrugged as if to say "suit yourself" and took a sip of her water. What Wesley said next came as a bit of a shock for her. Him and Summer were considering having a baby. "Really. Wow."
was all she could manage to say. What she didn't understand was why they wanted to do that before they had even gone to college let alone graduated high school. Brooke didn't mention anything, however, because Wes had come to her for some support and she didn't want to go all judgmental on him. Plus, it was their decision, not hers. "Can you imagine a little Wes running around?" she said with a giggle in an attempt to lighten the mood. The thought was a bit cute and funny at once. [/blockquote]

"It would be pretty cool... Having someone I can claim as my own. I mean, Chessy and Jared are already there, and they're having another baby already," he said. Wesley didn't think it was very smart of them to have another baby so young, but he and Summer are deliberately trying to get pregnant, so they weren't much better. At least Chessy and Jared weren't expecting it.

____________________ Taking another sip of her water, Brooklyn looked over at Wesley. "Are they really?"
she asked in disbelief, with a slight twinge of pity in her tone. She had chose to ignore the fact that Wesley was avid on having a baby with Summer and focused in on what he had just said about Chessy and Jared. Brooke was still friends with Summer the first time Chessy was pregnant, therefore she was around her a lot. Even though Brooke knew that she loved her child more than anything, she also knew that it would be hard for her to go through having another baby, especially with her still being in high school. The situation had to be hard. "Poor Chessy . . . " Brooke said without really meaning to speak her thoughts aloud. She quickly recovered that way she didn't sound too forward or anything, "I mean I know we're not friends but it must be hard. There are only so many hours in a day and she's still in school and everything. She's lucky to have all of her friends be so understanding though." Deep down, Brooklyn knew very well that if she was in that situation nobody would be as understanding with her; her own father would probably even kick her out which would force her to be back under her mother's control. Wesley nodded, and then shrugged lightly. "Hey, don't feel sorry for her. This time actually was their fault. To be honest, I think they both need to be a little smarter with their actions, or they'll have five kids before they're twenty. I don't think they know the responsibility of being adults; they just act like they do around everyone to make it seem like being a baby maker and a baby machine is nothing to everything else."

____________________ Brooklyn nodded. "I guess so,"
she said, though that wasn't really what she was thinking. From a girl's perspective she couldn't help but feeling a little bit of pity, after all it had to be hard to juggle a relationship, school, and a child all at once and this was only high school, it would get worse with college. Turning her head to face Wesley, she suddenly asked, "Is there another reason you came?" Deep down she knew that there had to be something else besides the fact that he and Summer had gotten into an argument. Also with the fact that he was talking babies she felt as though things were going to be broken off sooner or later, then what was going on between them would be exposed. [/blockquote]

Wesley looked at Brooklyn for a few seconds, when she asked him if there was another reason he'd come over. "...There could be, if you want there to be," he said, with a sly grin.

____________________ Finishing her water, Brooklyn sat her glass down on the counter and looked over at Wesley. "Is that so?"
she said playfully, raising and eyebrow. Of course that hadn't been what she was referring to in the first place but she went with it anyways. How long was she going to let this drag on? She didn't know, but either way it was better than being somewhat dumped and that is why she kept it going. "The real question is do you want there to be?" she said, unable to contain the impish grin that formed on her face. [/blockquote]

"You know me," Wesley said. He was always up for a 'wrestling' match.

____________________ "Of course I do,"
Brooklyn answered with a small smile. Crossing her arms over her chest, she didn't get up. "I believe you know the way," she said, meaning that if he didn't lead nothing was going to happen. Doing this ensured her that everything was mutual, at least for the time being; she could easily see everything exploding in her face. [/blockquote]
